Procession of the River Species

“The Procession of the River Species” was Lynne’s community art project in Fort Collins for 6 years. She developed a public art studio and invited all interested community members (and some people from other areas) to come to the free studio, learn about wildlife species native to the Poudre River watershed, and create costumes, masks, head-dresses, cardboard critters–any way they chose–to represent their species choice, mainly using recycled materials.

The “Procession” of animals was joined by drummers and dancers to progress (dancing) through Old Town Fort Collins and down to the river, thanking the river for supporting the diversity of species and raising awareness of local biodiversity.
